Sustainable Fashion

ABOUT SUSTAINABLE FASHION
Sustainable fashion is a holistic approach to creating a product and producing with consideration to the environmental and social impact it may have throughout its total life span, including its “carbon footprint”.  “Sustainable” fabrics can be natural, organic, or from recycled content.

ABOUT NATURAL FIBER
“Natural” fiber fabric simply refers to fabrics made from fibers found in nature. Many natural fiber’s may have been grown and manufactured without harmful toxins, but there are no certifying organizations to label them “organic.” That includes hemp, silk and linen.

Natural fibers fall into three main groups:
• Vegetable fibers which come from plants such as cotton, hemp, and flax;
• Protein fibers such as wool, alpaca, and cashmere, which come from the wool and hair of animals;
• Strong elastic fibrous secretion of silkworm larvae in cocoons, which are used to create silk.
