ABOUT MONICA WONTORSKI
Monica has been breathing beauty and new life into the old since she was six years old. As a young child she would cut up her own clothes to create designs for her dolls. Inspired by this, her mother planted the seed by encouraging Monica to become a fashion designer.

While exploring vintage shops and indigenous cultures looking for treasures, she tried to understand why there was an abundance of new materials being made when so much beauty already existed.

Disheartened by the idea of breeding waste and environmental damage, Monica designs custom apparel using recycled and earth-friendly textiles, such as organic cotton with natural dyes.
Her creations reflect her exquisite attention to detail that often times includes embroidery design; a technique she studied in India. Finding inspiration from her friends, travels and working for corporations in the fashion industry she designs clothing for the “consciously hip.”

Monica grew up in Chicago where she studied fashion design at Columbia College. She then moved to San Francisco where she graduated from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. A true nature lover, when not at her sewing machine in New York City where she now resides, she can often be found rock climbing.
